Planet Earth is a complex and dynamic system we yet have to fully understand. Planet Earth can be compared to the human body : different parts needs to fully interact together, and this, in multiple complex ways. One disequilibrium and everything can fall apart. Our planet not only have many components (oceans, forests, atmosphere, etc), but also interact with other masses and objects in the solar system, such as the moon and the sun, and at a lesser extent, other planets. In order to keep our planet healthy, it is important to educate our youth about how fragile Planet Earth is, despite its size.

Planet Earth NASA

Looking for math books for your kids? The struggle of many parents is to decide what math books for kids is the most suitable for their child. How should you choose? What are the best math books for kids?

But choosing a book for your child is not always as easy as 1 plus 1 equal 2. Most teachers and educators will tell you, there isn’t “the best” book, but rather a great selection of decent quality children math books. The important thing, when looking for math books for kids, is to look at the two following elements.

First, the mathematical content, no doubts about it, is very important. The content should suit the child’s math level, and even exceed it. By choosing a children’s math book that will slightly exceed your kid’s math level, you will give your child the opportunity to go beyond their knowledge and have an advantage in class. By having more knowledge and skills, your child will pick up faster at school. However, it is important to remember not to exceed your child’s level by too much. If you give your child math books for kids that are way over their level and are too difficult for him or her to understand, the child can become discouraged and even start disliking learning math overall.

Second, the way the author approaches math problems and how the author is able to make it interesting enough so the child will be enjoying (as close as doing math can be enjoyable for a child) doing the exercices is an important element. If you are buying math books for kids as an addition to your child’s schooling, you should try to choose a math books for kids that will give him or her that feeling of doing homework, therefore allowing you child to enjoy it as much as possible.

Math books for kids should encourage observation, investigation, exploration, and discovery of patterns in math. Moreover, they should encourage creative thinking. Depending on your child, you may want to choose a book that have a lot of repetition in a certain type of exercises, or not.

Finally, remember that how you teach your child also plays an important in your child progress. You need to listen to your child’s needs, to use an incremental step-by-step approach and to review exercises and problems with your kid.

Looking for Math Books for Kids? Have a look at the large selection available on www.science-books-for-kids.com.

Many parents don’t realize the importance of exposing their babies, toddlers and young children to writing and reading. Too many parents leave it up to school and the education system to teach their kids how to read and write. However, children interest for writing and reading must be awaken at a very young age and to help its integration in the family, educational places and community, it is necessary to increase awareness of the importance of early exposure to language. This suggests that writing and reading should not start in school, but much earlier, and in a non conventional way (different from the schooling system). Moreover, school should not have the monopole when it comes to help the development of language skills.

Research has shown over the past years that early childhood is a favorable period to be exposed to languages, whether it comes to speech, writing or reading. This development period happens between 0 and 6 years old is also called Emergence of Writing and can also be described as children’s writing during the pre-alphabetic spelling phase (Strickland et Morrow, 1989; Giasson, J, 1995; Thériault, J., 1995).

How children can be exposed to languages can be done in several ways, and will often depend of the socio-economic environment of the child, and influences will come from the family of the child or its social environment. Those influences will allow the child to acquire in a relaxed way knowledge and develop writing skills.
